Sarangan Lake , also known as Telaga Pasir , is a natural lake located at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level and is located on the slope of Mount Lawu , Plaosan Subdistrict , Magetan Regency , East Java . This lake is about 16 kilometers west of the city ​​of Magetan . This lake is about 30 hectares and 28 meters deep. With temperatures between 15 to 20 degrees Celsius , Telaga Sarangan is able to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
Sarangan Lake is the mainstay of Magetan tourism object. Around the lake there are two star hotels , 43 hotels jasmine classes, and 18 tourist cottages. In addition to dozens of souvenir kiosks, visitors can also enjoy the beauty of Sarangan by riding around the lake, or riding a fast boat. Other attractions are also available, such as restaurants, playgrounds, tourist markets, parking lots, public utilities, places of worship, and parks.
The existence of 19 restaurants around the lake makes the visitors have many alternative menu choices. Similarly, the existence of street vendors who offer various souvenirs have provided convenience to visitors to buy souvenirs. The typical dish sold around the lake is the rabbit satay.
Magetan is also helped by the potential of local small industries capable of producing handicrafts for souvenirs, such as woven bamboo, leather crafts, shoe crafts, and typical food products such as emping melinjo and plates (crackers puli, namely crackers from rice).
Telaga Sarangan also has boat rental service and water rickshaw. There are 51 motorboats and 13 water tricycles that can be used to explore the lake.
Telaga Sarangan has several important annual event calendars, namely offerings on Friday Pon Ruwah month, school holidays in the middle of the year, Ledug Sura 1 Muharram, and fireworks party at the turn of the year.
The local government is making a road project that connects Telaga Sarangan with the attractions of Grojogan Sewu Waterfall , Tawangmangu in Karanganyar District .The steep widening and sloping project connecting the two areas is expected to be completed in 2007.
This tourist attraction can be reached from the City of Magetan ; and its location is not far from Grojogan Sewu Waterfall , Tawangmangu ( Karanganyar Regency , Central Java ).

WAYANG KULIT, Java's Culture

Wayang kulit  is a traditional  puppet-shadow play  found in the culture of  Java ,  Bali , and  Lombok ,  Indonesia . [1] In a  wayang  kulit performance, the puppet figures are rear-projected on a taut linen screen with a coconut-oil (or electric) light. The  Dalang  (shadow artist) manipulates carved leather figures between the lamp and the screen to bring the shadows to life. Wayang kulit is one of the many different forms of wayang theatre found in Indonesia, the other being  wayang beber ,  wayang klitik ,  wayang golek ,  wayang topeng , and  wayang wong . Wayang kulit is among the best known, offering a unique combination of ritual, lesson and entertainment.
