BARONGAN

BARONGAN IN ACTION

Barong Blora is a Barong cultural art originating from Blora Regency .

History

According to some sources, the figure of Singo Barong (lion giant) who is the main character in the art of barongan, is a visualization of the spirit of the fighters. May be the fighters inspired by the courage and ideology of Gembong Amijoyo who is the original figure of the incarnation Singo Barong. The next lyrics of the flash pantun, barongan moto shard is a picture of a pair of eyes Singo Barong made of large marbles and glass-based.
Parikan is to declare that the spirit of the nation's struggle does not know the compromise against the Dutchcolonists. This becomes clearer when we hear the next lyrics ndhas pethak ditempiling . Describes the spirit of artists who were eager to slap the heads of Dutch officials who were mostly bald heads.
Barongan Blora itself was brought and developed by Samin Suro Sentiko after living in Sumoroto, Ponorogo , where his ancestors where the name of Reyog in Sumoroto when it is more popularly known Barongan. from the point of view at that time also the head of Reyog with his mouth open with a large peacock crown, but when in Blora is very difficult to get peacock feathers, so replaced with a fibers material in the form like a peacock dadak and tuck some peacock feathers only in the fibers as hair blora barongan.
Samin suro sentiko to Sumoroto on orders of his father to meet his brother while his name is still Raden Kohar. while in Sumoroto, Suro Sentiko renamed raden kohar on the advice of his brother, and gained various knowledge such as farming, kebathinan, martial arts, barongan and understanding of the anti-Dutch Sumoroto society, especially among warok. Barongan from Sumoroto was brought to Blora as a medium to draw the Blora people's sympathy to live more independently and reject the powers that harm the people, now the mindset is known as Samin teaching .
In its development, Baroka Blora's proprety always follow the prophecies of Barongan Ponorogo, from clothing, movement, and some music. like a barage played by two people, now only done one person and the bald baronga head in the middle. Blora government declared Barongan Blora sabagai Typical Blora art, although in other central Javanese city itself there are many groups Barongan played by two people, aka Reyog Tradisonal.

Moreover, some cultural traditions require the involvement of barongan art in it. Tradition lamporan-ritual reject bala for example, requires barongan involvement. In fact, it is Singo Barong who is considered as repellers reject the reinforcements. Not surprisingly, barongan art is very popular and very closely related to the life of rural communities in Blora Regency . They assume that barongan has succeeded in representing their popular traits, such as spontaneity, kinship, simplicity, firmness, cohesiveness, and courage based on truth.
