MENJER LAKE NATURE, Wonosobo's Tourism
Menjer Lake is the largest lake in Wonosobo district and is located at the foot of the mountains or Dieng plateau. This naturally formed lake has been opened into a tourist attraction and used as a Hydro Power Plant (hydropower). The potential of this lake tourism has not been explored and still rarely visited by tourists from both within and outside the region.
Menjer Lake Nature is located in Menjer village, Garung District, Woonosobo, Central Java. Menjer Lake location as far as 12 km from Wonosobo city. Garung name reputedly related Rakyan Garung in the days of Queen Pramodhawardhani century VII-VIII M.
The location of Lake Menjer from Wonosobo is closer to the Dieng Plateau. The position of Menjer Lake is at the foot of the mountains or Dieng Plateau making it a potential tourist attraction that is close to the city center. But the lack of information and signposts makes many travelers unaware of this place. Many of the tourists go straight to the Dieng Plateau without stopping at this lake when the same path.
The route to Telaga Menjer is quite easy, essentially look for Garung Market between the highway connecting the city of Wonosobo with Dieng Plateau. Garung Market is the last market before going through long and steep inclines to the Dieng Plateau area. This market is easy to know because it is on the road a little uphill and visited by many buyers since morning until noon. From Garung Market, look for the left road that there is a gate written with Water Power (PLTA) Garung.
The journey to Telaga Menjer Wonosobo through the narrow and uphill streets. Telaga Menjer visitors will pass through Garung hydropower area while in the middle of the journey to Telaga Menjer. Some of the road to this lake is slightly damaged and has not been repaired. Judging from the level of road damage it seems the local government has not planned to improve road access.
The atmosphere around the tourism area Telaga Menjer looks lonely and cool seen the activities of local people who are doing daily activities such as farming and looking for branches of wood. The scenery of Menjer Lake is not visible from the edge of the road as it is located behind a small hill surrounding the lake.Vehicle visitors are welcome parking in the area that has been provided. Around the parking lot stands some food and beverage stalls and simple lodging (homestay).
There is no other facility contained in Telaga Menjer in addition to boats used to surround the lake. There is no other facilities around the edge such as parks or chairs to rest and enjoy the natural reserve of lake and mountains in front of it. We were confused to find a safe and comfortable place used to enjoy the scenery in this lake. Because the land surrounding the lake there is no safety wall to prevent tourists from falling into the lake.
