Warak Ngendog Carnival


Dugderan is a festival to mark the commencement of fasting in Ramadan held in Semarang City . The celebration that has been started since the colonial period is centered in the Simpang Lima area. The celebration was opened by the mayor and enlivened by a number of firecrackers and fireworks (the name "dugderan" is the onomatope of the eruption sound). "Dug" which means sound coming from the drum that sounded when wanting to pray Maghrib. While "deran" is the sound of the firecrackers enlivened by this activity.

Celebration 

At this celebration a variety of goods are sold (a kind of night market ) and at present are often included various sponsors from a number of large industries.Nevertheless, there is one toy that is always associated with this festival, called " warak ngendok ". Dugderan intended other than as a means of entertainment as well as a means of Islamic da'wah .

Kirab 

This cultural eclipse begins in the courtyard of Semarang city hall of Central Java. Kirab followed by participants from various circles, schools, community organizations and others. Not to forget also from our Paguyuban Tri Tunggal Semarang. Paguyuban Tri Tunggal Semarang get official invitation from Tourism Office of Semarang City.
