Like other cities under Dutch colonial rule, fortifications were built as military centers. This fort is a rectangular shape and was first built on the west side of the old city of Semarang today. Tambak Sari Station on Jalan Pengapon, built by (NEDERLANDSCHE INDISCHE SPOORWEGMAATSCHARIJ), Inaugurated BY Governor General MR. BARON SLOET VAN DE BEELE. This station replaces the previous station built on June 16, 1864 until 10 February 1870 which serves the route Semarang - Jogja - Solo.
Since the station was not eligible anymore, due to the increasing volume of transportation, the Tawang Station was built. The architect of this building is JP DE BORDES. The building was completed in May 1914. The building has an Indische architecture style which is suitable with tropical conditions. this building has a visual axis with Blenduk Church that adds value to the region. This building includes "tetenger" Semarang City.
Church of Blenduk Semarang
Aged over 200 years old and made "tetenger" (Landmark) Semarang city. Located at Jalan Let Jend. Suprapto no.32. It was named after the Blenduk church on the top of two towers and a large dome. The dome in Javanese means Blenduk. The building began to stand in 1753, used for the NEDERLANDSCHE INDISCHE KERK church.
This building was repaired again in 1756, 1787, and 1794. In 1894 the building was overhauled as it is now. The architect of this development is HPA DE WILDE and WWESTMAS. The existence of this church plays a major role in the development of Christianity in Semarang
Sisters of the Franciscan Order
Located on Jl. Ronggowarsito no. 8. This foundation belongs to Catholic. Originally in 1808 Pastor LAMBERTS PRINSEN initiated the establishment of a Catholic orphanage for a son named WEESHUIS.
In 1870 came a group of sisters from the FRANSISKAN Order to Semarang. Then a Dutch architect M. NIESTMAN Designed a building at the location for the sisters.This building began on February 16, 1906. On June 15, 1915 Dormitory for children's son moved to a new location that is on Jl. Dr.Wahidin currently, while the location is used specifically for the congregation. Mberok Bridge
This bridge is the main link between the road Pemuda and Jalan Mpu Tantular, built in 1705. At that time, the location of the Old City, also called OUDSTADT dibagun rectangular fortress, named after VIJHOEK Fortress, one of the gates of this fort is the bridge Berok that time named DEZUIDER PORT.
Then the name of this Bridge changed to GOUVERNEMENTSBRUG. This name is obtained because of its location adjacent office of City Hall, which is located in GedungPEDUNGBAKUNG PAPAK at this time. A few years later, the bridge was renamed with SOCIETEITSBRUG.
This happens because near the bridge stands Gedung Kesenian SOCIETEIT DE HARMONIE, located at Bank Eksem at this time. Year 1824 with the discovery of VIJHOEK fortress dindin, this bridge has an important meaning. In 1910 this bridge was repaired by lighting lamps. The last major refurbishment took place in 1980. It was named the "BEROK" bridge because native people could not pronounce the word "BURG" which in Dutch means a bridge.

Located on Jl. Mpu Tantular 19 - 21 Semarang was built in 1908. At the beginning of construction, this location stands a government building called GOUVERNEMENTS. But in the year 1756 is used for the building of art SOCIETEIT DE HARMONIE.
After 1908 with the transfer of this art building to the new location of the current Youth Street former GRIS Building, at the location was dismantled and erected a new building and used for NEDERLANDSCHE HENDEL MAATSCHAPPU. After the independence of Indonesia this building is occupied by MARGA BHAKTI, which then in hand move to BANK EXIM and PT. PARTNER NIAGA.
PT Djakarta Lloyd
Located at Jalan Mpu Tantular 23 The current owner is PT Djakarta Lloyd (Persero). The architect of this building is Herman Thomas Karsten after the assignment of Stoomvaart Maatschappij Nederland (SMN) a venture in the field of sea transport.

PT Pelni
Located on Jalan Mpu Tantular 27 was built in the early twentieth century. Originally the building was occupied by NV BOUWMAATSCHAPIJ. namely a company engaged in the field of Marine Ship Expedition.
This building is on the banks of the river, because at that time the river can be navigated ship with a large size, so the ship can dock and unloading in front of the office.
PT Perkebunan XV
This company opened a branch in Semarang in 1888. The establishment of this company relates to the history of forced cultivation ( Cultur Stelsel ) in the Dutch East Indies.The building is European-shaped with the addition of 2 (two) towers beside the left and right of the building built at the beginning of XIX and used for NV CULTUUR MAATSCHAPIPIJ DER VORSTENLANDEN is a Dutch company engaged in the field of plantation and agriculture.
Indonesian Batik Cooperative Office
Located on Jalan Mpu Tantular 29. Founded in the 1930s. This building was established for the Batik Entrepreneur Cooperative at that time considering in ancient times batik has also been exported abroad.
Dated May 4, 1897 was inaugurated since the beginning of the Association of Batik Entrepreneurs stood in Indonesia. The building is adapted for tropical air conditions.
