CELEBRATION OF WAISAK DAY, Magelang's Culture
Celebration of Waisak Day in Indonesia following the decision of WFB. Traditionally nationally centered in the Borobudur Temple complex, Magelang , Central Java .
The series of national Waisak celebrations principally are as follows: [2]
- Taking water from Jumprit spring ( umbul ) Jumprit in Temanggung Regency and torch lighting using Mrapen eternal fire source, Grobogan District .
- The "Pindapatta" ritual, a ritual of giving food to monks / monks by the community (umma) to give the community the opportunity to do good.
- Samadhi at the peak of the full moon. The determination of the full moon is based on the calculation of the phallah, so that the full peak can occur during the day.
In addition to the three basic ceremony was also done pradaksina, parade, and art events.
Hari Raya Waisak, together with Nyepi Day , is designated as a national holiday based on Presidential Decree No. 3 of 1983 dated 19 January 1983.
