GREBEG MULUDAN
Grebeg Muludan held on the 12th (exactly on the birthday of Prophet Muhammad saw)usually starting at 8:00 am. Guarded by 10 kinds of Kraton warriors: Wirobrojo, Daeng, Patangpuluh, Jogokaryo, Prawirotomo, Nyutro, Ketanggung, Mantrijero, Surokarso, and Bugis, a Gunungan made from glutinous rice, food and fruits and vegetables will be brought from the palace Kemandungan passed Sitihinggil and Pagelaran to the Grand Mosque.
After dido'akan Gunungan which symbolizes the welfare of Mataram kingdom is distributed to the community who think that part of the Gunungan will bring blessings for them. The sacred sections of the Gunungan will be brought home and planted in the fields to make their fields fertile and free from all kinds of disasters and calamities.
Kirab warrior palace started out two pairs of gunungan grebeg maulud of which contains vegetables and snacks market. The two mountains are the alms of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X from Ngayogyakarta Hadininggrat Sultanate.
At the Great Mosque of Kauman, Yogyakarta, the mountains are prayed first by the mosque's penghulu, followed by the people present. But many people are impatient and immediately scattered fighting the contents of the mountains are believed to bring blessing.
